Joan founded Second Chance to advocate for international students’ access to higher education. An expert in financial aid and scholarships, she led the Nepal Justice League in 2018, re-seating 56 Nepali students after a scholarship crisis, securing over $10 million in aid. In 2022, she transitioned from university advising to launch Second Chance as a non-profit organization.
